For anyone who is on Twitter, you can’t miss all the tweets on Fridays that start with #FF or #FollowFriday and then list name after name after name.

While I appreciate people recommending me to others, I started to feel bad when I couldn’t always reciprocate because I was in school all day. By the time I got home and done with homework (yes, even on Fridays teachers give homework), Friday was almost over for most people, especially on the east coast.  So I wouldn’t tweet my #followfriday people.

Today I got out of school early so thought I would recommend some of my favorite tweeples. Before I started tweeting, I ran across this blog about how the whole #FollowFriday thing has gotten out of control and fewer people really pay attention to it.  So I’m following the format in this blog post http://whoisandywarner.com/new-follow-friday-format/ and posting a weekly blog on Fridays of people that are worth following for specific reasons.

Now, that’s not to say that everyone doesn’t have value but if the list each week was too long, it would diminish the point.  So here’s my new #FF format and list for this week.

@ben_armstrong – BEN ARMSTRONG because he’s another biz kid and my most recent BizKid 2 BizKid interview featured on my blog for June. He’s definitely going to do lots in business.

@jakestutorials – JAKE COOK makes the best video tutorials on everything technical. Even if he doesn’t already have one on a particular subject, let him know and he’ll create one. Also a featured BizKid 2 BizKid interview.

@raisingCEOkids – SARAH COOK happens to be Jake’s mom and as everyone knows, none of us biz kids could do all this without the help and support from our parents.

@perryspreviews – PERRY CHEN is a 10-year-old film critic from San Diego who I recently met on Twitter. We are both going to be guest speakers at Blazing My Trail conferences this summer at the University of San Diego. It’ll be great to meet him in person.

@trailsnotpaths – ANN MARIE HOUGHTAILING is the founder of the Blazing My Trail program and has all the right ideas for kids in today’s society. Make sure to follow her and check out the conference if you’re in the San Diego area in late July/early August. The conference is for middle and high school kids.

@zachveach – ZACH VEACH is a 15-year-old race car driver. That’s enough right there because how many kids do you know who are racing cars at fifteen?  Well, at least legally. :)  He was also one of my BizKid 2 BizKid interviews.

I hope you find these people interesting. I know I have.

Making videos is what adults usually do as a living but kids are now starting the video production industry early.  I met Jake’s mom, Sarah Cook, through twitter (@raisingCEOkids) when she interviewed me for a book she is working on. She introduced me to Jake and a few months ago, our families had a chance to meet in person and have dinner together.

Recently, Jake and his family took a business trip to the east coast. Guess where they toured? How cool would it be to have a Hershey’s bar that big! :)

How long have you been making videos/how-to guides?

I started my business making videos at the end of August 2009.

How did you get the idea to start your business?

I really liked learning how to do things on the computer so I decided that I could share my knowledge and help other people around the world.

How long does it take to make a video?

It depends on what type of video. For a tutorial it takes around 1-3 hours from start to finish.

What editing software do you use?

I use iMovie. I recently got Final Cut so I will probably use that once I learn the program better.

Where do you find your information for your videos?

I find my information from places like Google, YouTube, and other sites online.

What is the coolest product you have reviewed?

I really enjoyed reviewing a product from Cyber Clean called “High Tech Cleaning Compound”.

How do you get the ideas for your videos?

A lot of the videos I make are requests from my viewers. They message me on my channel and ask me for help. Usually when I am asked for help, I make a video about so everyone can benefit.  If there is just something that I find and want to make a video about, then I do that too.

How do you balance your business and school?

I have to put school first, but after that I am able to work on business related things.

Do you have plans to continue this after high school?

I am not sure yet, it depends how far I take the business and whether or not I want to continue with it.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Don’t be afraid to ask companies for items to review or to ask “big” business experts for their opinion on growing your business.
