I am a 14-year-old entrepreneur who started my own business when I was just nine years old.   It’s called Pencil Bugs.  They are are cute, colorful bug-like pencil toppers that make doing homework, drawing, correcting papers, or even office work just a little more fun.

I’ve been donating a portion of my sales to help other kids.  For the first couple of years, I donated to a local foster agency.  I wanted my money to directly help kids and buy them things they needed.   That made me feel really good because I knew that even the smallest amount can make a difference in someone else’s life.

In 2008, I set up a program with Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA.  I buy toys, games, books, and other activites to put together gift bags for kids that are in the hospital.  Of course, I also include my Pencil Bugs products.

After several years of having my website and business, it was finally time to set up a blog.  With the help of my mom, I’ve had a lot of fun sharing my experiences with you. One of the things I’ve learned about writing is that no matter how good you are at writing, everyone needs an editor. Thankfully, I have my mom who proofs, edits, and approves all of my posts.

I am in 8th grade.  I will try to post entries as often as I can but I would rather post quality than quantity so I can guarantee there will not be a post every day.  Check back on a regular basis or put my website in your favorites.  Better yet, subscribe to my blog and you will get an e-mail notice whenever I write a new post.  It’s as easy as that.

Thanks for visiting.  Remember to check out my website at www.pencilbugs.com to buy original Pencil Bugs, bookmarks, or greeting cards.  If you’re looking for other Pencil Bugs products, visit my online store at www.cafepress.com/pencilbugs for unique things with my Pencil Bugs characters or logo.
