"Made by a kid but not just for kids!"

TM

A Rady Christmas - and a  BIG thank you!

Since I started my business, I have been donating to help other kids.  The first charity I chose was HUGS Foster Family Agency in Temecula where we live.  The money I donated went directly to whatever the kids needed.

Then this summer I heard about Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.   I've been lucky and have never been hospitalized so I can only imagine what it must be like, especially for a kid.   So I started a program with the hospital to help out.  I take some of my earnings and buy items to put together gift/activity bags for the kids in the hospital.  I delivered my first donation of 25 bags at the end of the third quarter.  The kids got notebooks, crayons, stuffed animals, and of course, some of my Pencil Bugs products.

Thinking ahead to Christmas, I wanted to make even more bags this time.  So in November, I put out a request on a blog for help.  Individuals and companies were so generous with various products that I was able to put together 50 gift bags for the kids.  With their help, many kid received gift bags and we were able to buy lots of larger toys and board games that they can use in the community playroom.

My dad's car wasn't big enough to hold all the bags of toys and games so he rented a van for the day.
While I was in school for a couple of hours that day, Mom and Dad packed everything up.

The hospital was so appreciative of what I was doing that the coordinator, Shelley Borree, presented me with a certificate.  I guess I blinked at the wrong time.  Oops!

A special thanks to Enterprise Rent-a-car for giving us a discount on a van since we had too many bags of toys to fit into my dad's car.  Everything barely fit even in this.
